Writer\/Director Nathan Havey first encountered the Interface story in Ray Anderson\u2019s book Confessions of a Radical Industrialist in 2010.\u00a0 That\u2019s why, when staging a storytelling event about business purpose in Atlanta, his goal was to find a story from Interface.\u00a0 The storyteller that came forward was Erin Meezan, Chief Sustainability Officer.<\/h3>\n

\"Erin<\/h3>\n

On his first call with Erin, Nathan was so nervous to meet Ray\u2019s lead sustainability person that his hands were sweaty, his heart pounding, and mouth dry.\u00a0 He felt like he was talking to Oprah.\u00a0 Erin graciously accepted the invitation to tell her story and subsequently Nathan learned much about what had happened at Interface since the publication of Ray\u2019s last book.\u00a0 Soon after, Erin took the stage alongside five other storytellers, and video from that night is featured in the film.<\/p>\n

Another storytelling event in Atlanta, co-hosted by the local chapter of Conscious Capitalism, introduced Nathan to Jim Hartzfeld, the person who asked Ray to give the speech that set the whole journey in motion.\u00a0 Between Jim and Erin\u2019s reflections, Nathan saw a clear story-arc that could make a great movie.\u00a0 Once he saw it, he couldn\u2019t let it go.\u00a0 During years of corporate training, Nathan was shocked at how few people had heard of Interface and the critical roadmap it had created for how humanity can execute a global sustainability transformation – and do it profitably.\u00a0 It was time to change that\u2026[\/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”78″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center” css_animation=”fadeInUp” css=””][vc_column_text css=””]To date, Beyond Zero has been seen by many hundreds of thousands of current and aspiring business leaders, designers, architects, engineers, inventors, industrialists, entrepreneurs and visionaries of all stripes.\u00a0 Global demand has necessitated subtitling the film in 14 languages and counting.\u00a0 It has been used by many of the worlds largest companies (and many, many more smaller ones) to ignite the imagination and innovative potential of their teams.<\/p>\n

Beyond Zero<\/strong> is an independent film production. While Interface provided critical access to its rich video archive, and helped the filmmakers connect with the characters in this story, it did not fund the creation of the film, nor did anyone at Interface have any control over the content of the interviews, images, or narrative that are in the final film.<\/span><\/p>\n
